So what is "The
Wine Gorilla?"
We are simply a group of memebers with
an agent who facilitates our purchases. As a group we therefore have the power to purchase wines for the same price as retailers.
How does it work? The costs involved are as follows:
You pay a $150.00 annual fee to the club to be a gorilla. This pays for people who facilitate memberships and other facets of the club. After that, you buy the wine from our assigned retailer, but
not directly. Each time you go to our site, you will see all the available wines and fast deals. if your wine
is not there, we'll try to get it for you. We are your personal wine buyer. We are not a retailer; we basically
are you. We buy your wine for you, but use our power for price. You pay cost plus $2 for our costs of handling
your wine.
If you send a check, we have no upcharge,
because there are no costs. If we use your credit card to buy your wine, you must pay the charges, 2.5% for Visa/MC
and 3.5% for AmEx. You may ask why. Simply put, there would be times when the credit card charges on more expensive
wines would cost more than the handling, and we would lose $ buying wine for you.
Why should you join?
If you buy more than 1.5 cases annually, you'll save a lot of money. Gas costs more these days,
so are things associated with it, but we think we can help balance out those costs.
Example: A bottle of wine that wholesales for $20.00 would normally retail for $28.00. If you buy
a case, the retailer would discount it by 12% ($4.36) making the price $23.64 plus 7% sales tax making the bottle cost $25.29.
Through the Wine Gorilla, you can buy the same bottle for
$12.00 plus 7% or $12.84 per bottle. This is a $12.45 per bottle real savings, or $149.40 per case savings. All
savings might not be this big, but on a moderately priced Cabernet or Chardonnay, the savings are typically even bigger.
